How it works

Two photos in, one photo out. Nothing to install and nothing to learn.

  1. First

Choose a recent photo of the family, or of the person closest to them, such as a husband or wife.

  2. Then

Add a clear photo of your loved one, from the time of life you want people to remember.

  3. Last

Press the button and download the photo. Send it to the funeral home, the printer or whoever is making the slideshow.

Where a memorial photo is used

  • On the photo display board or table at the service.
  • In the slideshow or video played during the service.
  • In the funeral program or memorial card, next to the obituary text.
  • As a framed print given to close family afterwards.

Print sizes

The photo you download is about 1,000 to 1,400 pixels on its longest side. That looks sharp in a slideshow, a program, a memorial card and prints up to about 5×7 inches. For a large easel portrait of 16×20 inches or more, ask your print shop to enlarge it, or use a photo studio that works from the original prints.

When time is short

  • Each photo takes about a minute, so you can try two or three photos of your loved one and pick the one that looks most like them.
  • Nothing needs to be installed; it works on the phone you already have.
  • If a photo fails, the credit comes back automatically. If their face does not look right, email us for a free redo of that photo.

Questions

How do I make a memorial photo for a funeral?

Choose a recent family photo and a clear photo of your loved one, upload both and press the button. You get one photo with them together with the family, which you can print for the display board or add to the program and slideshow.

Is it appropriate to show an edited photo at a funeral?

Many families find it comforting, especially for grandchildren who never had a photo with them. It is kind to tell close family first, and some families add a small line such as “together in our hearts” under the photo.

Can I use it for a pet memorial?

This tool is made for people. Photos of pets may work, but results are less reliable.

How fast is it?

About a minute per photo. There is nothing to wait for by email; the photo appears on the page when it is ready.

How much does it cost?

Your first photo is free when you create an account and confirm your email. After that, photos come in one-time packs: 5 photos for $4.99, 15 for $9.99 or 40 for $19.99. One credit is one photo. There is no subscription, and you can also buy a pack without creating an account.

What if the photo does not come out right?

If a photo fails or times out, its credit goes back to your balance automatically. If the photo is made but the AI changed your loved one’s face and they do not look like themselves, email hello@adddeceasedlovedonetophoto.org from the address on your account (or with your order receipt) and we will give you one free redo of that photo. A sharper, larger photo of their face usually gives a much closer likeness.

What happens to the photos I upload?

The two photos you upload are only used to make your picture and are deleted automatically 24 hours after upload. The finished photo is kept privately in your account so you can download it again, until you delete it with your account (Settings → Security → Delete account, which removes your photos right away) or ask us at hello@adddeceasedlovedonetophoto.org. Photos are never shown to other visitors, sold or used to train AI.
